Jen Barry has been riding since the age of 3 and has done everything from Short Stirrup to Medal Maclay and 3'6" jumpers all over the North East.
Jen has trained under:
- Gary Zook, who has trained many equitation medal winners and national show hunters.
- Ken Berkley, partners with Scott Stewart, currently the nations top hunter/jumper riders based at River's Edge Farm located in Stanton Station, NJ
- Meredith Taylor, winner of the AHSA Medal Finals and winner of USET Finals, 2nds at both Maclay and Washington. Now a successful hunter trainer as well as grand prix rider
Jen's many accomplishments include:
- Ribboned in Medal Maclay at Devon in 1997 and 1999
- Competed AHSA Medal Finals 1997
- Competed USET/BET Talent Search 1997
- Competed internationally in Canada
- Qualified for IHSA Regionals 1999-2002
- Reserve Cacchione rider 1999-2000
- President of NC State IHSA Equestrian Team 2001-2002
- Coached NC State IHSA Equestrian Team 2003
- Coached Eleanor Royster winner of the Triangle Farms 3' Equitation Finals 2003, Duke Childrens Marshall & Sterlings Winner 2003
- Competed at Winter Equestrian Festival in West Palm Beach, Florida, in both the Hunter and Jumper ring for the past 9 years
Jen graduated from the NCSU Veterinary School of Medicine in 2008, and is currently practicing equine medicine. She specializes in equine sports medicine, and the diagnosing, treatment and rehabilitation of sport horses recovering from injuries. Rebecca Effron
Rebecca Effron grew up riding the local hunter/jumper circuits in North Carolina. She has
experience grooming and showing on the "A" show circuit on the east coast. In addition
to being knowledgable with hunter/jumpers, Rebecca is a well-rounded rider. Her extensive
background in the 4H horse program exposed her to showmanship, versatility, and western
riding and she placed nationally in Horsebowl and Hippology competitions. Rebecca graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Animal
Science, and was a member of the NCSU Equestrian team for 4 years attending the National
IHSA competition, showing as an Open rider, and being President her senior year.
Rebecca teaches beginner to intermediate lessons at the farm, attends shows, and is the Yates Mill Farm barn manager. |
Phoebe Hazzan
Phoebe comes to us from Buffalo, NY where she has been riding and showing since age ten. She began training at the Buffalo Equestrian Center with Alexis Mierzwa and Elizabeth McNabb. Over the next 6 years she worked as a summer camp counselor and barn manager in addition to volunteering with handicapped riders who participated in the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center program. In 2004 she began working and riding with Susie Schoellkopf and Jennifer Alfano at SBS Farms. In addition to working at home Phoebe traveled with SBS to horse shows all up and down the east coast. She has competed in local shows up through AA rated shows from the walk-trot division through Children’s Hunters and Jumpers. Phoebe is currently finishing an undergrad degree at NC State University where she rides on the IHSA Huntseat team. She hopes to attend NCSU Vet School in fall ’09. She is currently teaching beginner through advanced lessons.
